Do you reckon you could surf every day for a month? Not a bad goal in any surfer's books really ... but way easier here in Otago given the frequency of decent quality waves. If you're up for the challenge you could even use your month of surfing to do some good for remote communities in Indonesia and the Solomon Islands.
Sound like you? Head on over to our friends at SurfAid and sign up for the Make A Wave challenge this September (which starts Sunday!). You can sign up as an individual or as a team. Getting your crew together is a great way to keep the stoke up for the entire month. The Make A Wave platform makes the fundraising side super simple.
Not really a surfer but keen to contribute to this great cause? You can donate through the Make A Wave website.
Get involved, surf your brains out through September and set yourself up for an epic summer of waves. You'll be able to bathe in all that good karma right into the New Year.
See you at the beach ... Derek
PS We've added a few more images to our new premium gallery collection at Box of Light. These are all limited editions and can be purchased framed and ready-to-hang, or as prints. We can ship prints right around the world. We can ship our ready-to-hang framed artworks throughout New Zealand. Here's one of our favourites that we think really captures that moment a fun surf session is gate-crashed by an intense southerly.
