I'm currently on a huge deadline for my upcoming book, New Zealand's Best Gourmet Pies, which you can pre-order right here (and a huge thanks to the 650-plus of you who have already pre-ordered your copy).
The reality of these book deadlines is that I am basically locked into my studio with 100% of my energy and focus on completing the chapters. Then they get flicked off to the editor, and then to the designer, before arriving back laid up as the pages will appear in the final book. And they look beautiful. I am so happy with progress. It makes all the hard work in the lead up totally worth it.
What it also means is that I have been struggling to get time on the camera or out exploring our coastline ... so this week's photos are some of the faces of the Te Kaika South Island Surf Championships which went down over Easter at St Clair. These are people who make these surf events a fun to be a part of, and some who just totally rip in the surf.
The big swell from Sunday is dying out through the start of the week. A new south southwest swell fills in with some weather on Thursday. Friday and Saturday look like the best days of the week.
See you at the beach ... Derek
PS We are offering a chance for organisations to include New Zealand's Best Gourmet Pies in their 2024 Christmas gifting. If you run a company, and like to treat your team, or best clients, with a Christmas gift they will remember and love, then get in touch.
