Well, that escalated quickly. By midnight tomorrow night New Zealand will be in total lockdown. These are unprecedented times. Luckily, if you don't live anywhere too crowded you can still go for a walk, a bike ride, a swim ... and a surf. Just have to be mindful to keep 2m from other people.
That probably isn't manageable at Manu Bay or in the Cove at Piha, but down south here we should be able to find a few isolated peaks to play with. The overwhelming message coming from the Ministry of Health is that we need to all man up and play our role in knocking this Covid-19 virus on the head. Starve it out I guess. We all have a role to play.
And let's keep our heads together. Panic buying is not necessary. It's kind of the opposite of uniting. So let's try to keep some perspective here, help each other out and champion the iwi in being a Kiwi.
And to all our Box of Light readers who are over 70 years of age, don't be too proud. Ask for help if you need it.
Here's hoping we all get a few waves over the coming weeks.
Today's batch of images brought to you from a recent trip to Wellington ... enjoy.
See you at the beach (no closer than 2m, though, okay?) ... Derek
PS The Box of Light Gallery is in lockdown. You can still browse through our images here. But we won't be in a position to fulfil new artworks for the next four weeks. Existing orders will be processed as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience. Stay safe and hug your loved ones.
