What a year 2019 has been. Some pretty horrific moments for New Zealand with the Whakaari/White Island eruption and the Christchurch mosque shootings. Both good reminders for us all to hug our loved ones and live life to the fullest every single day.
For Box of Light 2019 has brought us into our ninth year of operation. That's 437 weekly emails with around 5746 images that have been selected from around 230,000 images I've shot over that time. Crikey, that's a lot of shots and there were plenty of rubbish images among those I can assure you.
We've managed to put some of the best images onto the walls of some stunning homes and businesses over the years. There is nothing quite like seeing one of our Box of Light images forming the feature artwork in a beautifully designed home. And we thank each and every single person who has ever bought a limited edition print from us. The sales of our artworks are what keep the wheels turning at Box of Light ... without you we couldn't keep doing what we're doing.
A huge thanks must also go to our partners and advertising partners who make it possible for us to keep our weekly reports free for subscribers. Their investment in sharing the stoke of surfing is rewarded whenever you support their products and services.
And finally, here's to you lot – a bloody amazing bunch of humans with an insatiable curiosity whenever your inbox goes ding on a Tuesday morning. You rock. We wish you all the best for Two Zero Two Zero.
See you next year ... Derek
PS We have some exciting plans for 2020 with a new book coming out and a whole month of Box of Light being produced out of Bali ... roll on ...
