Sometimes the best inspiration comes from the ocean itself. Like this week after staring at a computer all week and watching paint dry on a reno project, the sight of perfect waves peeling off was enough to lift my spirits every time. Being deprived from my daily ocean fix for a few days gave me fresh eyes ... that and the impeccably beautiful swell that was buckling over the sand banks.
Capturing that feeling of the ocean in its lined up, offshore state is always on my mind and this week my task was clear: try to come away with a few frames that invoke motion, power and perfection. A decent wedge of clear water helped for the shots beneath the waves as well. Watching waves break underwater is mesmerising – the way they draw, the shapes they make and the lines as they fold over. Swimming among them when it is this clean is otherworldly. Trying to capture that in one frame is not so easy, but here's a few that tell parts of that story.
More long-period swell coming this week and more of that warm spring weather and lengthening daylight hours ... make the most of it. You know I will be.
