Colour is like an explosion at this time of year. The fruit trees burst into life with full blossom promising bumper crops and new shoots emerge and erupt into flower everywhere. The saturated colours are complemented by the deep blues of cloudless skies and vivid sunrise and sunsets that possess an impossible richness.
Spring has got to be a favourite time for photographers and especially in the south as the magic of golden hour stretches late into the evening. That's good for surfers too, as the after work surfs become a part of the daily ritual again. The images in this week's report are exactly that – post-work surf sessions and the colours of spring in all their vibrant beauty.
If you're wondering which day to take an early mark this week then check out this forecast.
If you're eyeing up one of our prints for a friend (or yourself) this Xmas then be sure to get your order in before December 4 to ensure we can deliver it on time. Here are a few of our favourites. And if you'd rather come in and see the prints in real life then drop by our gallery that is opening next week at 1 Dowling Street, Dunedin.
See you at the beach ... Derek
