It would have to be one of the most infamous parties in the country – the Hyde Street Keg Party is a celebration of all it means to be a student in Dunedin. Every April, Hyde Street opens its doors, yards and fridges to revellers who stream in dressed as everything from mutant ninja turtles, to Nasa astronauts.
The Hyde Street party wouldn't be around today if it wasn't for the team at OUSA, who keep the party safe and feed and water the revellers. It's great to see a tradition of Dunedin student life (and possibly one of the wildest parties in New Zealand) protected and given a chance to live on ...
This year, St Clair's own reggae band Summer Thieves moved into 17 Hyde Street and worked the 3500 partygoers into peak form. If you haven't checked them out yet, click here and have a listen to their Sublime-inspired sound – you'll be impressed. This four-piece formed in 2011, but recently spent some time in production with Tiki Taane ... more awesome music to come from these likable lads in the very near future.
Waves this week have ranged from glassy and clean to wild and lumpy ... we love this time of year.
